Geotagging with Dodgeball
Dodgeball is a social-networking technology which uses text messages to coordinate location between people in a group. You send a text message with your location to Dodgeball, and it tells your friends.
We've integrated Dodgeball with 2Tagger. You tell 2Tagger who you are on 2Tagger, and it automatically locates where you are based on your latest position on Dodgeball.
This is a new feature, and we are currently improving it. If you run into any problems please e mail HuffmanTM@gmail.com so we can help fix it.
How to do it...
You'll need a Dodgeball account. You can get one here. Notice Dodgeball is owned by Google, and so if you have a Gmail account setting it up is easy.
For general help with Dodgeball, please see thier help page.
Set up Dodgeball with your cell phone and tell it where you are.
Once you have Dodgeball set up like normal, you need to tell 2Tagger how to find you. On the Dodgeball history page you'll see an icon to "Subscribe to your history via:
"
Right-click (or ctrl-Click for Apple) on the RSS icon and select 'Copy Link Location'.
When you paste the link it should look something like this --> http://www.dodgeball.com/history.rss?uid=42247&scod=2181168696
Navigate to 2Tagger, and notice that above the map there is a text box with a 'SetRSS' button. Paste the link into the text box and press the button.
2Tagger will then read your location from Dodgeball and find you on the map. It will not automatically geotag those coordinates, because we've noticed people tend not to update all the time and fixing and incorrectly geotagged photo is annoying. You will have to click the 'GeoTag' button below the map, and then click 'Get Nearby Tags'.
Please bear in mind this is a very new feature, and likely has bugs which haven't surfaced yet. HuffmanTM@gmail.com
